MEET CHEF
Executive Chef Morris Salerno began his culinary career in the 1970s at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas and later joined the prestigious Lowes Anatole Hotel in Dallas when he was only 27. In 1989 and 1991, Morris earned “Dallas Chef of The Year” by the Texas Chef Association. He was also selected as one of the “Top Ten Young Chefs of Dallas” by The Dallas Times Herald. He has also won numerous awards with the World Master Chefs Society Team USA in competitions in France, England, Ireland, Germany, Canada, Sweden and Thailand.

More recently, Morris and two of his cooks from The Grotto won the “Iron Chef of The Southwest” competition hosted by the Texas Chefs Association in 2005, taking home the only gold medal in the competition.
Morris opened the Grotto in 1994 as a New American adjunct of his Italian staple, Salerno’s, which he opened in Flower Mound in 1985. Both are well-known for their high-quality Italian American cuisine and exceptional service.
